More Exposure For the Swarm

Swarm 1 as seen on FlickROne of my favourite photos ever has been used in another publicaiton, this time, a blog called Coroflot’s Creative Seeds on networking. In short, the point of the article is that if you make a great first impression, you can kill it later by not keeping up with your contacts.

It is interesting to note that I took this picture and made these comments about 18 months before the first widely circulated reports of colony collapse disorder (CCD) having appeared in North America. Well, I hate to be a fortune teller, but this disaster has been a long time coming.

I would also point out that this does NOT affect bees that are maintained in one place and kept according to strict organic standards. That means no anti-biotics and very little sugar feeding. Well, that’s good news for the rest of us, as it means there is a solution, if only we’re smart enough to pay attention.

That means we need more apiculturists, too. So, save your little corner of the world and consider learning how to keep bees this year. Honey ain’t getting any cheaper.
